Samsung is asking $4.50 to $4.90 per gigabit for 2027 HBM4, or $1,296 to $1,411 for a 36GB stack, against about $600 for the same stack this year.

  • Korean reports say Samsung proposed $4.50 to $4.90 per gigabit for 2027 HBM4, against about $1.50 for HBM3E.
  • On a 288-gigabit, 36GB stack that is $1,296 to $1,411, about double the roughly $600 estimate for an HBM4 stack in 2026.

Samsung Electronics is asking $4.50 to $4.90 per gigabit for the HBM4 it will supply in 2027, more than three times the roughly $1.50 per gigabit its current HBM3E fetches, according to Korean media reports carried by Sammy Fans on October 2, 2026 and by DigiTimes on Monday, October 5. A 12-high, 36-gigabyte HBM4 stack holds 288 gigabits, so the quote comes to $1,296 to $1,411 a stack, about double the roughly $600 that industry estimates put on the same stack this year.

Why Samsung's 2027 HBM4 price is triple HBM3E but double 2026 HBM4

The "more than triple" comparison spans two generations of memory. HBM3E at $1.50 a gigabit works out to $432 for 288 gigabits, and HBM4, the newer and faster part, already sold above that in 2026, at about $2.08 a gigabit if the $600 stack estimate reported by the Seoul Economic Daily holds. Set against HBM4's own 2026 price, Samsung's 2027 quote is 2.2 to 2.4 times higher.

That like-for-like increase lines up with two independent forecasts. The Seoul Economic Daily cited industry estimates that the same 36GB HBM4 stack will cost about $1,300 in 2027, which is $4.51 a gigabit and almost exactly the low end of Samsung's quote. TrendForce has raised its forecast for 2027 growth in HBM's blended average selling price to 121%, and KB Securities expects Samsung's HBM prices to rise by more than 100%.

Where Samsung's HBM pricing leverage comes from

HBM is sold under annual long-term contracts, and the Korean reports say Samsung has already locked in most of its 2027 supply volume, leaving price as the open item, with talks in their final stage this month. Micron has said it secured contracts for most of its 2027 HBM output at prices above this year's, which the Seoul Economic Daily said strengthens the hand of Samsung and SK hynix as both ramp HBM4. TrendForce attributes its higher forecast to a continuing shortage, a growing share of the more expensive HBM4 in the mix, and the start of larger HBM4E production in the second half of 2027.

The quote also follows Samsung's manufacturing catch-up on HBM4: in August, MoveSurge covered reports that its HBM4 yield had reached the "golden yield" level months ahead of its own target, and that SK hynix was removing price caps from its long-term memory contracts.

Korean media reports say Samsung has proposed $4.50 to $4.90 per gigabit for 2027 HBM4 supply, more than three times the roughly $1.50 per gigabit of its current HBM3E. On a 36GB, 288-gigabit stack that is $1,296 to $1,411.

How much does an HBM4 stack cost in 2026?

The Seoul Economic Daily cited industry estimates of about $600 for a 12-high 36GB HBM4 stack in 2026, rising to about $1,300 in 2027.

How much will HBM prices rise in 2027?

TrendForce forecasts that HBM's blended average selling price will rise 121% in 2027. KB Securities expects Samsung's HBM prices to rise by more than 100%.

Has Samsung finished negotiating its 2027 HBM contracts?

The Korean reports say Samsung has locked in most of its 2027 supply volume and that price talks with major customers entered their final stage in October 2026.
