MoveSurge guide

How to read the tape

You have the chart. You don't have the why. MoveSurge's job is that gap: when something moves, you know why in seconds — and when news crosses, you know whether the market cared. This page shows how, with real screenshots and real events.

Real cards, frozen at the dates shown · updated August 2026

1What you'd actually use it for

Four situations from real trading days. Every card and number below is shown later on this page.

A name on your screen starts moving, and you don't know why.

Type the ticker in the search bar. On Aug 7, searching NVDA returned eight dated headlines from the last 45 days — the freshest on top with its measured price reaction — plus a one-line options summary of the day: $21M traded, 88% calls, 137 sweeps. The why, in about ten seconds. Not twenty minutes across eight tabs. Section 13 shows it.

It's 8:29 and the number hits at 8:30.

The calendar told you the slot. The print lands the second the actual is out: Act | Est | Prev on one row, with the reaction line under it. On Aug 5, ISM Services missed slightly — futures dipped a few points and recovered. Translation: nobody cared. That answer took five seconds, and it's as valuable as the alerts. Section 7.

Earnings night on a name you watch.

Aug 6, after the close: Microchip's numbers land as a structured panel — EPS beat, revenue beat, guidance above street — with the after-hours move attached: +7.6% in the first minute, +10.3% by minute ten. You've read the whole print before the first article was written. Section 6.

Knowing how a recurring risk actually trades.

Search Hormuz and you get every dated escalation headline with crude's measured reaction each time — like Jun 9, when a Trump post about a downed helicopter sent WTI +1.9% in sixty seconds. Next time that kind of headline crosses, the history is already in front of you. Context, not a forecast. Section 5.

2The workspace

The MoveSurge top bar: search, Live Feed / Guide / Replay and Learn / Broker Moves / Institutional Research tabs, filter chips for Market Reactions, Earnings and M&A, watchlist controls, the Small Caps toggle and the Historical date picker.
The top bar. Tabs pick the dataset. Chips filter the live tape inside it. On phones, the tabs collapse into the Workflows menu.
  • Live Feed is home. Every event, newest first, streaming.
  • Broker Moves and Institutional Research are separate desks (sections 10 and 15).
  • Chips cut the tape to Market Reactions, Earnings, M&A — and on desktop, FDA and IPO.
  • The bookmark button shows only your watchlist names.
  • Small Caps: routine small-company prints are hidden by default. One tap shows them.
  • Historical opens any past trading day (Prime).
  • Search takes any ticker, company, person, or theme — sections 12 and 13 show the live and research workflows.

3One card, up close

A real card from July 22, 2026 — Alphabet raising its capex guidance. One of the most repriced headlines of that week:

A real headline card: Alphabet sees FY CAPEX $195 bln to $205 bln, saw $180 bln to $190 bln. Equities chip, market cap ~$4.2T, market reaction line showing GOOGL down after news, 1m -1.9%, 10m -2.3%, price path 340.10 to 333.50 to 332.42, 10m volume 153.4x normal. 1 1Date and time. Shown in your local time on the live tape. 2 2Category. Filters key off this chip. 3 3The headline. Numbers first: new range vs old range. 4 4Market cap. 2% of $4.2T is a big deal. 5 5The verdict. Down 1.9% in the first minute, 2.3% after ten. 6 6Real levels. Before → 1 min → 10 min. Check any chart. 7 7Volume. 153x normal means conviction, not drift.
Jul 22, 2026. The red left edge marks a Critical event — rare by design. When you see it, read the card.

4The reaction line

This is the core of the product. For every eligible headline we attach the real price path of the affected instrument — measured against the price two minutes before publish. Not estimated. Not narrated. For a stock story it's the stock; for macro news it's futures, crude, gold, or FX.

Compare the two windows. On the Alphabet card: down 1.9% in one minute, down 2.3% at ten — the move held and extended. When the 1m print fades by minute ten, the market changed its mind. That difference — knee-jerk vs settled — is the read.

The line is honest about weak moves too. "Little change" means the market shrugged. "Moved with the broader market" means the price drifted with everything else — we flag it, we don't dress it up. "Early rise / early drop" means the 10-minute window is still forming. Headlines that land while the market is closed get measured from the open, labeled. No line at all means there was nothing liquid to measure. We'd rather show nothing than a number that lies.

5Trump's posts, direct

MoveSurge carries direct, real-time access to President Trump's Truth Social account. Desks watch it because one post can reprice crude, futures, and gold in seconds. June 9, 2026:

A Truth Social Direct card: Trump posts that Iranians shot down a US Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz. WTI futures early rise, +1.9% in the first minute, path 86.39 to 88.06, with Nasdaq futures, Dow futures and gold all moving in the cross-asset row below. 1 1The direct feed itself. Not a repost of a repost. 2 2Crude jumped 1.9% in 60 seconds. The 10m window was still forming. 3 3One post, everything moves. Futures and gold, priced in the same minute.
Jun 9, 2026. You don't have to guess whether a post mattered — the measured move is attached to it.

The next post hits the tape in under a second.

6Earnings

Earnings night is fast. The tape structures every report into the same panel so you never parse a press release under pressure. Microchip, August 6, 2026, after the close:

A real earnings card: Microchip Tech Fiscal Q1 results. Earnings panel marked Final with Adj EPS 0.76 Beat vs 0.69 est, Revenue USD 1.49B Beat vs 1.46B est, and Q2 guidance above street. Market reaction: MCHP up after news, +7.6% in one minute, +10.3% in ten, path 75.27 to 81.01 to 82.99. 1 1The market's answer. +7.6% in a minute, +10.3% in ten — real levels shown. 2 2Final = all numbers are in. 3 3Each line vs the street. Beat or Miss — and guidance usually decides the move.
Aug 6, 2026, after hours. Beat on EPS, beat on revenue, guided above street — repriced +10% in ten minutes.

The panel state matters on earnings night: Developing means numbers are still landing, Updated means something changed, Final means the picture is complete. Use the Earnings chip to isolate the lane during the busy weeks.

7Macro numbers

Economic data appears only when the actual number is out. At rest it's one compact row — a dozen prints can land in a single minute:

A compact macro row: US ISM Services PMI with a red ACT: 54.1 chip.
Aug 5, 2026. The chip color shows the surprise direction before you even open it.

Tap it and the full print opens:

The same macro row expanded: US ISM Services PMI, ACT 54.1, EST 54.5, PREV 54.0. 1 1Act vs Est is the surprise. Prev is the trend. 54.1 vs 54.5 expected: a slight miss, activity flat.
The same row, expanded. Futures dipped a few points and recovered — a shrug. The tape telling you not to care saves as much time as the alerts do.

8FDA news

Biotech moves on trial results, panel votes, and approvals more than on earnings. Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, August 4, 2026:

A real FDA catalyst card: Rhythm Pharmaceuticals Phase 2 trial results with a PHASE Phase 2 badge, FDA category chip, market cap ~$7.0B, and reaction RYTM up after news +4.6% in ten minutes, path 103.30 to 108.01. 1 1The stage badge. A Phase 2 readout is not an approval — the badge saves you the parse.
Aug 4, 2026. Trial data landed; the stock repriced +4.6% in ten minutes. The FDA chip filters the whole lane.

Market cap counts double here: the same headline is a 4% move on a $7B name and a 40% move on a small one. Names under $2B sit behind the Small Caps toggle.

9Deals

A merger reprices two stocks at once, so deal cards price both sides. August 6, 2026 — a governor moving to intervene in a live utility deal:

A real M&A card: Virginia's governor says she will formally intervene in the Dominion–NextEra merger. The market reaction line shows both legs: D +0.1% 1m +0.2% 10m and NEE +0.1% 1m +0.2% 10m. Red critical edge. 1 1Both sides of the deal, priced separately. You care which one absorbs the news.
Aug 6, 2026. Announcements, regulator moves, financing, break fees — the M&A chip isolates the lane.

10Broker Moves

Rating changes land in batches — one firm updating a whole coverage list before the open. The tape compresses the batch into one card. Morgan Stanley, July 21, 2026:

A real broker burst card: Morgan Stanley broker move burst, price-target cuts across HLNE, BN, EPD and raises across CRWD, WKC. A Broker Burst panel reads 4 MOVES, 1 PT raise / 3 PT cuts, and a reaction row shows each ticker's 10-minute move. 1 1The whole batch, one card. Four moves, summarized. 2 2Each name priced. See which call the market took seriously.
Jul 21, 2026. The Broker Moves tab (Prime) collects every rating change, filterable by firm and company.

11Market Pulse

Headlines tell you what just crossed. Every couple of hours the desk publishes a Market Pulse note that ties the session together:

A real Market Pulse card: 'Gold pushes above 4306 as oil slides, tech leads and Japan rates stay hot', with a context panel listing exact levels — XAUUSD 4306.06 +1.56%, WTI 76.63 -0.99%, GER40, HK50, US100, JP225 — plus the morning's macro print and an SK Hynix capex headline. 1 1Exact levels, not adjectives. Doubles as a session dashboard.
Aug 7, 2026. Read it at your open, after a quiet stretch, or when the tape has been fast and you need the thread.

Start typing any ticker, company, person, source, or market theme. After the second character, the panel updates with up to eight of the newest matching events from the last 45 days — without taking you away from the live tape.

The live MoveSurge search panel for Truth Social, showing All, High Impact and With Reaction filters, dated matching headlines, category and source chips, and compact measured-reaction chips such as MU plus 0.49 percent and XAUUSD plus 0.32 percent. 1 1Type the subject. Ticker, company, person, source, or theme; results refresh as you type. 2 2High Impact. Only events assessed High or Critical. 3 3With Reaction. Only results with a qualifying measured move attached. 4 4The compact receipt. Instrument, direction, and signed move. Open the result for the full price path.
Aug 29, 2026. A live search for Truth Social, filtered to results with measured reactions.
  • All — broad recall. Use it when you want every recent matching headline, including routine posts and events with no measurable reaction.
  • High Impact — importance first. It keeps only events whose assessed importance or impact is High or Critical. This answers “which matching headlines deserved attention?” It does not promise that a liquid market moved.
  • With Reaction — market response first. It keeps only events with a meaningful measured market reaction; muted, unavailable, and suppressed reactions are excluded. The colored chip shows the tracked instrument and signed move.
Read the reaction chip as a receipt, not a causal verdict. It says the instrument moved in the measured window after the headline. It does not, by itself, prove that the headline caused the move. Open the result to inspect the timing, baseline, full path, related assets, and any attribution caveat.

A useful sequence is All to understand the story, High Impact to isolate consequential updates, then With Reaction to study the subset that coincided with a qualifying price move. For a noisy source such as Truth Social, those three views turn hundreds of posts into a usable event history.

The tape tells you what's crossing now. Search tells you everything that crossed before — with the market's measured response each time. That combination is the research workflow: any ticker, company, or theme returns the dated headlines of the last 45 days of the published feed, and the Historical picker (Prime) opens any older day.

Real search results for NVDA: 8 dated matches from the last 45 days, and a Search Intelligence panel with a matched-tape view, a reactions-only filter, an options flow summary showing $21.0M traded at 88% calls with 137 sweeps, a deep-dive article, and a headline-to-price-reaction proof card.
A real search, Aug 7, 2026: NVDA. Every result carries its date, category, and — where one exists — its measured reaction.

The dark panel on top is Search Intelligence — the research shortcuts for whatever you typed:

  • Matched tape — the dated headlines themselves. This is your event history for the name.
  • Reactions only — one tap drops everything that didn't move a price. What's left is the list of headlines the market actually traded.
  • Options flow — the day's positioning in the name: $21.0M, 88% calls, 137 sweeps. The flow and the news, side by side.
  • Deep dive and proof — the long-form article on the name and the public headline-to-price receipt.

What to type: a ticker (NVDA, MU), a company (easyJet), a theme (tariffs, CPI, Hormuz), a person (Powell). Each returns the same thing — dated events plus measured reactions — which is exactly what you want before touching a name.

A session, start to finish:
  1. Before the open — the calendar for today's prints, the latest Market Pulse for the overnight thread, and a search on your names for anything you missed.
  2. During the session — the live tape, filtered your way; watchlist on when it's busy. A red Critical edge means read now.
  3. Something moves — search the ticker: catalyst, measured reaction, options context. Ten seconds.
  4. After the close — earnings panels as they land, and Replay & Learn to drill the vocabulary on real, dated history.

14Options Flow

Two surfaces, one dataset: a compact live summary on the feed itself, and the full board.

The panel at the top left of the feed tracks the current options session live — you don't have to keep the board open:

The Options Flow panel on the feed: session premium $63.6M across 25 names, 79% calls vs 21% puts, Technology holding 81% of premium, repeated strike STX $760C, and session standouts — MSFT with a 15-day calls build, AMZN, GOOG, and NVDA at $3.4M with its recent catalyst and measured reaction. 1 1How the session leans. $63.6M so far, 79% of it in calls. 2 215 straight days of call buying in one name. 3 3The catalyst behind the flow — with its measured reaction.
Captured live, Aug 7, 2026. Session totals, the sector taking the money, repeated strikes, and standout names with multi-day builds.

The full board lists every big print, ranked by premium — where size is positioning right now:

The Options Flow board: rows ranked by premium — a $22.2M Corning September call block, an $8.1M Adobe November call block marked OPENING with earnings 9/10, NVDA and AMD sweeps — with columns for contract, block or sweep type, bid/ask side, size and open interest. 1 1Real dollars spent. Ranked by premium. 2 2OPENING = a new position. ER = earnings ahead. 3 3Block = one negotiated print. Sweep = urgent, hits every exchange at once. 4 4Size vs open interest. This print vs everything outstanding.
The board as captured Aug 6, 2026. Pro and up. On phones, each print becomes its own card.
Read it straight. A big print tells you where size is active. It does not tell you it's right — large trades are often hedges. We show the print and its context; the call is yours.

15Free vs Pro vs Prime

  • Free — a capped live preview. Enough to judge speed and relevance.
  • Pro — the full real-time tape: every reaction line, Truth Social direct, earnings panels, Options Flow, search and its intelligence panel, alerts, watchlists.
  • Prime — everything in Pro, plus Broker Moves, Institutional Research, the Historical date picker, and team services.

Practice on real, dated headlines in Replay & Learn, or compare plans.

Every screenshot on this page is a real card or a real search from the live product, frozen at the date shown; prices have moved since. Information only — MoveSurge never gives investment advice or trade recommendations, and an unusual options print is a fact about positioning, not a forecast.
