Aeva Technologies (AEVA) rose 14.88% in the fifteen minutes after its Q2 2026 report. Revenue came in at $6.1 million, above the $5.92 million analysts expected, and the non-GAAP net loss narrowed to $0.41 per share from $0.44 a year earlier.
Aeva develops 4D LiDAR and FMCW silicon-photonics sensors, originally built for autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, and robotics. The bigger news in this release is a new business line: Aeva launched an Optical Connectivity unit applying its high-power photonics technology to AI data-center interconnects, and has already signed a joint development agreement with an unnamed major hyperscaler for a Near-Packaged Optics solution, with initial deployment targeted for the second half of 2027 and a production ramp in 2028. CEO Soroush Salehian framed it as a way to apply photonics technology built over the past decade to a new market serving next-generation AI data centers.
The quarter also included two other real developments: Bendix selected Aeva's 4D LiDAR and perception software for its next-generation commercial-vehicle driver-assistance platform for Class 8 trucks in North America, and industrial sensor maker SICK launched its first Aeva-powered product and named Aeva its 2026 Supplier of the Year for Innovation and Collaboration. Separately, CFO Saurabh Sinha is departing on September 5, 2026, with Rupesh Maheshwari named interim CFO — a leadership change to watch alongside the new AI data-center push. The company also completed a $115 million follow-on offering, leaving $302.9 million in total available liquidity.
