The largest of Tradeweb's recent deals

Trumid costs about two and a half times the $785 million Tradeweb paid for ICD, a cash-management trading platform, in 2024, and about ten times the $190 million it paid for Nasdaq's US fixed income trading platform in 2021. Tradeweb's other recent purchases, Australia's Yieldbroker and r8fin, cost less than $130 million each.

What Trumid brings

Trumid was founded in 2014 by Ronnie Mateo, who runs it as co-CEO with Mike Sobel. It matches buyers and sellers of US corporate bonds, and its volumes have grown fast: by its own figures it averaged $7 billion of trading a day in 2025, up 24%, and $10.0 billion a day in the second quarter of 2026, up 50% from a year earlier. Tradeweb plans to combine its own AllTrade service with Trumid's Swarms and Attributed Trading protocols, and it describes the goal as linking new bond issues with secondary trading.

Bar chart of Trumid average daily trading volume: $7 billion in full year 2025, up 24%; $10 billion in Q2 2026, up 50%; $9 billion in August 2026, up 47%
Trumid's average daily volume as reported by Trumid, with the change from a year earlier.

Trumid raised money from venture and asset-management investors over the past decade, including TPG, Dragoneer, BlackRock and T. Rowe Price. Global Venturing reported in October 2021 that a $208 million round led by Point Break valued the company at $2.4 billion. Tradeweb's $1.75 billion for the business is below that reported 2021 valuation, even though Trumid's trading volume has grown since.

A second big deal in electronic credit trading this year

On July 30, 2026, Intercontinental Exchange agreed to acquire MarketAxess for $167 a share in cash, an enterprise value of about $5.7 billion, also aiming to close in the first half of 2027. If both deals close, two of the main independent electronic platforms for US corporate bonds will sit inside larger groups: MarketAxess inside ICE and Trumid inside Tradeweb, whose largest shareholder is London Stock Exchange Group.

Trading was thin in the hour after the close, so these prices rest on few shares.
